  1. Switch off at the DB, not the wall switch.A wall switch only breaks one wire.
  2. Lock it and tag it.Tape the MCB and tell everyone at home.
  3. Prove it is dead.Prove–test–prove with a tester you know works.
  4. Stay dry and insulated.Rubber soles, dry floor, insulated tools.
  5. Restore carefully.Covers on, screws tight, then switch on and test.

What this book will not ask you to do

Touch the meter or the pole cable, work on the incoming side of the main switch, or run new circuits. Those jobs belong to your DISCOM or a licensed electrician, and the book says so clearly.

Is it for you?

Made for homeowners, not electricians.

Perfect if you…

  • Have never opened a switchboard but want to fix small things yourself
  • Live in an Indian home with 230 V single-phase supply
  • Want to understand what the electrician is doing (and charging for)
  • Are setting up a new flat or renting and want to know your wiring
  • Prefer clear diagrams over long videos

Not for you if you…

  • Need to rewire a house or add new circuits (hire a licensed electrician)
  • Work on three-phase, commercial or industrial installations
  • Are looking for an electrician certification course
  • Want to work on the meter, pole cable or DISCOM side

Who made this

Made by Blinkway, an Indian studio that makes practical digital guides.

We wrote the guide we wished existed for Indian homes: safety rules first, real Indian wiring (230 V, ISI parts, MCBs, DISCOM rules, old and new colour codes), and a clear line between the jobs you can do yourself and the ones that need a licensed electrician.

Questions before you buy? Email support@blinkway.org.

Questions

Before you buy.

I've never done any electrical work. Is this for me?

Yes. It starts with how electricity works and the safety routine, then teaches the hand skills (stripping, joining, testing) before any project. Projects are marked Easy, Moderate or Advanced, so you can begin with a simple switch replacement.

Is it safe to do electrical work myself?

Small jobs on an existing circuit are safe when the power is off and proven dead, which is why the book repeats the switch-off, lock, and prove–test–prove routine before every project. It also tells you plainly which jobs to leave to a licensed electrician or your DISCOM.

Is it written for Indian wiring?

Yes: 230 V / 50 Hz single-phase supply, Indian socket types (6 A, 16 A and combined), MCB and RCCB ratings, ISI-marked parts, DISCOM rules, and both the old (red/black/green) and new (brown/blue/green-yellow) colour codes.

What exactly will I receive?

A PDF of the edition you choose at checkout: English (48 pages) or Hindi (49 pages), A4 size, sent to your email right after payment. It opens on any phone, tablet or computer, and prints cleanly on white paper.

How do I pay, and how fast do I get it?

You can pay by UPI, debit or credit card, or net banking on our secure checkout. The download link arrives by email within minutes. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or email support@blinkway.org.

Is there a Hindi edition? / क्या यह हिंदी में है?

Yes. The handbook is available in English (48 pages) and Hindi (49 pages), with the same diagrams and projects. Choose your edition at checkout.

हाँ। यह हैंडबुक अंग्रेज़ी और हिंदी, दोनों में उपलब्ध है। चेकआउट पर अपनी भाषा चुनें।

Can I print it or share it?

You can print it as often as you like for your own use. The handbook is licensed to the buyer, so please don't share, upload or resell the file.

Does this replace an electrician?

No. It helps you handle everyday repairs and understand your wiring. New circuits, rewiring, DB upgrades, earth pits and anything on the meter side still need a licensed electrician or your DISCOM.

What is your refund policy?

You get a full refund within 7 days of purchase if the file isn't delivered, won't open, or doesn't match this page, among other conditions. See the full refund policy below.
